Bloomberg Businessweek: U.S. Nuclear Output Little Changed as Illinois Reactor Slows

Jan. 6 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. nuclear-power production was little changed for a third day, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission reported.

Production from U.S. reactors fell by 117 megawatts from yesterday to 96,942 megawatts, or 95 percent of capacity, according to the report today from the NRC and data compiled by Bloomberg. Four of 104 power units were offline.

Exelon Corp. slowed its 867-megawatt Dresden 3 reactor in Illinois to 89 percent of capacity from full power yesterday.

Another reactor at the site, the 867-megawatt Unit 2, was operating at full capacity. The plant is located 48 miles (77 kilometers) southwest of Chicago, where Exelon is based
